Mark
Zuckerberg came up with something so innovative and today it is part of our
routine - facebook. At 26, he became the youngest billionaire in the world. He started
this social network when he was in college (2004) and when the company went
public in 2012, its IPO was valued in billions. The movie based on his life,
The Social Network tells about talent, talented people and more importantly, a
country that celebrates talent!
A
boy from nowhere creates a company worth billions in 8 years and the country
celebrates by making a movie on him. From what I have read about Mark – it was
not about ‘money making’ but about being innovative and cool.
I
was just wondering the state of our nation – it has most of the people in this
world and I believe this land has some REAL brains but I feel they are sleeping
or too busy thinking whether to act or maybe our system just ensures that
nothing major can happen.
Most
of India’s celebrated businessmen (duh with some exceptions) are second or
third generation tycoons. The most amusing and intriguing part is their ability
to manage so many unrelated businesses – power, telecom, finance, food etc –
all at the same time! How do they thrive? I guess they know how to move through
the maze in our country – they know how to make money!
This
whole mess in the system is the one reason that is keeping a nation like India
poor. Our generation should compete with innovation and not how much you can
invest on bribing. We must protect our Indian industries – an environment where
ideas are encouraged and start ups are placed on pedestal rather than inherited
princes. Those princes would anyway be able to face some healthy competition.
We
should celebrate innovation and entrepreneurship rather than money, power,
inheritance etc.
Yes, these businessmen employ many of us and we
have so many rich Indians. But I believe that with the right attitude and right
tactics, India can be way more different – offering better life not just to
many but probably to all. Sounds better right?
