Pistanthrophobia – Is this word familiar?
Well, I came across this one lately and was surprised to find out that fear of Trusting someone again is such a common reaction to being hurt in love that it has its own name.
Thinking of it, what is one of the most crucial commodities for a person that’s becoming increasingly difficult to obtain these days?
Is the possibility of interruption and distraction everywhere taking a toll on most individuals and their relationships?
Is it the fact that the juxtaposition of people’s loftiest hopes and aspirations with their deepest worries and fears is too difficult to be brought to a balance?
Is it the fear that if taken lightly, one day it might just become routine?
Does this all boil down to the fact that we have forgotten about ourselves? That the other person is after all the secondary character and not primary.
I don’t know.
What I believe is - It is good to love, because love is difficult. For one human being to love another human being - that is perhaps the most difficult task that has been entrusted to us, the ultimate task, the final test and proof, the work for which all other work is merely preparation.
Loving does not mean surrendering and uniting with another person. It is a high inducement for the individual to ripen, to become something in himself.
If we only arrange our life in accordance with the principle which tells us that we must always trust in the difficult, then what now appears to us as the most alien will become our most intimate and trusted experience.
Remember the myths about dragons that at the last moment are transformed into princesses? Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act with beauty and courage.
So Pistanthrophobia – Of all the fears, may this phobia not consume you.
Because after a while, you’ll Dance again!
