While going Up & Down

The kind of situations we encounter while going up and down. Ah! These elevators will have so many stories to their credit. The earliest memory was when I was about 7 years. Yes, I wasn't too sure of what to do inside an elevator then. So on reaching the floor, my parents and a couple of others on board moved out and the door closed before I could get out. Since someone had already pressed the buttons from the ground floor, the panicked me was on my way down. In the meantime, my dad like every little girl's superhero chased the stairs down. But me on reaching down thought I will stay indoors and go up to find my parents. So I stayed in and told the uncle in the elevator where I wanted to go. Yea my dad missed me again. He then climbed the stairs back to find me coming out of the elevator. The first thing he did was take me back inside and teach me exactly what to do.  #childhoodmemories Then there was this one time after watching a movie. We were headed back...

Color of Life

Sometimes, the color of life confuses me.  Sometimes life looks black and other times red, like a deep wound. About the color of life, I wonder. It was a fine day. He thought the day would be white – easy, happy and bright. But the call from his love around noon changed the shades of white to more of black and red. She had called him up to say that she was having second thoughts about their relationship. He wasn’t sure if in that precise moment it felt like life took a black or red shade. Why now? Why did she have to tell me now that I purchased such an expensive ring to bind our future together?  He remembered the day they first met. There was not a cloud in the sky. He thought of that as a good omen. But his friend thought it would have been better if it rained when I first met her – the shower being the giver of a brand new life.  He so much wanted that life - rain or shine. He thought of begging her to reconsider?  They spoke. And the ro...

Old time's sake

If you must act like an impertinent man ;  Just because my clear sky  now looks grey ; And thunderstorms y ou cannot bear the sound of ; Please continue. Only remember that even today, I'd say cheers with you knowing my mug has poison. I would gladly drink it   for old times’ sake .

the Scent

"Transaction successful" - This appeared on the screen and there, for the first time she paid more than usual on a perfume. Shipment arrived.  The fragrance was noticed and liked by most around her. But she realized that it will take more than a costly perfume to overpower the aroma she tried to get rid of.  It will always be in the air.

Pushing Boundaries

She woke up with dark circles. Thanks to the tears! The sky looked so clear unlike her mind that morning.  She stood  up and caught herself looking at her. The image in the mirror told her – “Get more comfortable being uncomfortable. Get more confident about being uncertain. Don’t shrink because it isn’t as easy. Push back and make room in the space between ‘you can’t’ and ‘you can’. Maybe that spot is what you could call ‘you will’.” On this note, she began her day, trying to gather all the scattered pieces of herself.

It begins with a single drop

A tiny tale. The story was getting intense as the page came to an end. And as she was about to turn to the next, a droplet fell on the page. She looked up and smiled at the monsoon . Everything felt light again. She shifted from the terrace to the verandah with her book.

that Shimmer

She entered her flat after a long tiring day at work. She opened the tap and splashed water on her face. She looked up and the honest mirror showed her a tired and tanned face but there was this little shimmer on her nose. She smiled.
